Thinking of becoming a HGV / LGV driver?

Heavy goods vehicle drivers are an essential part of the distibution of goods between suppliers and their buyers.

HGV / LGV drivers drive commercial vehicles of over 7.5 tonnes including ridgid or articulated lorrys, tankers and more.
You would work from distribution centers , factories and wharehouses to transport goods to all areas of the uk and europe.

Apart from the driving of the vehicle you would also:

  • Plan a schedual of deliveries and the route you will take
  • Oversee or partake in the loading and unloading of your lorry
  • Make sure your goods are safley secured
  • Fill out the nesisary paperwork

You could be spending many nights away from home esspecialy if your trip envolves a trip to continental Europe.

  • Starting around £13,000 - £16,000 per year

  • £16,000 - £30,000 per year
    or more with experience

Hours Worked

  • up to 39 - 45 per week

Government legislation limits the amount of hours you can drive without taking a break. You could spend a lot of time away from home, which may include overnight stays, especially if you are traveling to Europe.

Work Environment
Most of your time will be spent in your lorry cab and you will be driving in all weather conditions.
